Family Office Directory
A directory of the world’s largest family offices, ranked by estimated assets under management. Family offices are private and rarely disclose their assets, so figures are triangulated from Form ADV filings where available, disclosed shareholdings, and specialist wealth research. Treat them as directional estimates, not filings. Updated periodically.

Unlike the other directories on this site, family office assets are not backed by a single public filing. Single-family offices disclose little by default. Figures here are estimates triangulated from SEC Form ADV filings where a family office registers as an investment adviser, disclosed public shareholdings, and specialist family office research, and they often include concentrated stakes in family-owned operating companies rather than only liquid investable assets. Sources disagree, sometimes by tens of billions, and should be treated as directional, not filings. Three entries in this directory have an actual SEC Form ADV filing behind their estimate: Cascade Investment (regulatory assets under management of approximately $153 billion), Hoffman Family Office (approximately $38 billion), and Ziff Brothers Investments (approximately $20 billion); the remaining entries are multi-source estimates with no public regulatory filing behind them. Inception reflects, where a specific named holding or investment vehicle is well documented, that vehicle’s own formation year; where an entry names a family generically alongside its operating company, the year shown is the operating company’s founding, which in several cases predates any separate family-office structure by decades, notably Ferrero (1946 company; a Luxembourg holding company was not created until 1997) and Ziff Brothers Investments itself (the Ziff Davis publishing business dates to 1927, but the family office was formed in 1994 after that year’s sale of the company). Five entries have no reliably documented inception year and are shown without one: Mars Family Office, the Al Nahyan family’s Royal Group (only “the 1990s” is publicly reported, with no specific year), the Thomson family’s Woodbridge Company (a single, uncorroborated estimate of 1978 exists), Hoffman Family Office, and the Mittal family’s LNM Holdings. Figures are estimates as of late 2025 and should be treated as directional. Last reviewed 2026. Maintained by Deep Institutional.
